• Senior Year Checklist

     

     

     Fall of your senior year:

    • Make a short list of schools (3-5) that interest you
    • Get to know your high school
    • Take the ACT or SAT required by the schools you are interested in attending
    • Obtain college application and note all relevant deadlines
    • Obtain Cost of Attendance information from each school
    • Prepare a resume of your achievements and activities
    • Research scholarship, loans, and grants
    • Request and obtain letters of recommendations
    • Submit applications for admission as required by each school
    • Assure that transcripts and test scores have been sent to your selected college

     

    Winter of your senior year:

    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online  www.fafsa.ed.gov
    • File the FAFSA and other forms by March 1st to access all funds available
    • Submit financial aid application forms, if not done already
    • Have your parents prepare their tax returns early, so you can use the information to complete the FAFSA
    • Obtain any additional information needed for financial aid or scholarship applications

     Spring of your senior year:

    • Receive, review, and revise Student Aid Report (SAR)
    • Compare acceptances and financial aid packages
    • Accept all financial aid packages; you can decline later
    • Select a college; notify other colleges that you are declining
